MARCH 14 Opening Act Series Audition 12:00pm - 4:00pm Mass Motion Dance Studio, 50 North Beacon Street, Allston In the spring of 2009, BoSoma launched their Opening Act Series at their evening length spring season performance. The Artistic Directors of BoSoma invited Hip Hop ConnXion, a non-for-profit hip hop dance team founded in Chicago (1999) who had recently launched a second company in Boston, to be the opening act for the show. The performance brought diversity to the evening and both exposed many of BoSoma audiences to a new genre of dance and developed a new audience for ConnXion. Through this endeavor, BoSoma strives to support young Massachusetts based companies and choreographers by inviting them to be the Opening Act for their annual spring season performance. The power of collaborating with dance companies of all genres, in hopes of inspiring and educating audiences, is a vital part of dance in Boston and beyond. This year, BoSoma will hold an audition for choreographers and/or emerging dance companies interested in having their work produced as the “Opening Act” for the upcoming 2010 spring season. Guest Company, Contrapose Dance, will share the stage with BoSoma, performing works by Gianni Di Marco, Marcus Schulkind, and Nicole Pierce. by February 22nd: Audition times for March 14th will be announced via email by March 1st. The company selected to perform as the Opening Act will be notified by March 19th. The company selected will receive tech time in the theater on April 22nd between 6pm-11pm (specific time to be announced).
