Community Outreach Coordinator

Part-time, year long commitment, unpaid position, multiple candidates will be considered for this collaborative effort. This position is a great resume boost with the opportunity to take credit for helping a small non-profit grow financially and expand their range of marketing and publicity throughout Boston.

 

BoSoma Dance Company is a Boston-based contemporary dance company combining vibrant, energetic movement with athletic performance quality. The company's mission is to make dance captivating and accessible through dynamic performance and community education.

 

BoSoma seeks a Community Outreach Coordinator for their 2018/2019 season. Tasks and duties vary throughout the year and are based on the Company’s greatest needs as they occur. The Community Outreach Coordinator’s primary responsibilities will include building strategic relationships with presenters, local schools, universities, and dance studios, booking research, booking support, presenter communications, presenter servicing, liaison with BoSoma Artistic Directors, and logistics pertaining to Company residencies, master classes, performing and touring. Support will be in coordination with BoSoma’s Artistic Directors. In addition, this position will participate in conceiving and implementing strategies to expand performance and educational outreach opportunities.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Research: Identify, and contact new venues for BoSoma performances and educational outreach

  • Coordinate leads, follow-up on contacts and support presenter cultivation

  • Review and assist in the upgrade of booking materials

  • Oversight of the Company and presenter website (pages) to ensure accurate and timely updates are implemented • Participate in monthly meetings with BoSoma AD’s and board meetings

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or currently enrolled) in communications, marketing, fine arts or related field

  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience • Supervisory, administration and production experience

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Constant Contact/Mail Chimp, database management

  • Strong writing skills

  • Ability to take initiative, meet deadlines, and make sound judgments

  • Tact and excellent interpersonal/communications skills and techniques

  • Ability to work effectively with creative people

  • Willingness and ability to work flexible and irregular hours

  • Experience in or knowledge of arts programs in schools or after school programs
